Yesterday I attended a super fun champagne tasting event at Hi-Times Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA. If you have not been to Hi-Times before you should go. Hi-Times has the largest selection of wine, beer, alcohol, accessories, cigars and candy that I am aware of. Their wine cellar alone is 3,000 sq ft. If you enjoy wine and spirits you could spend hours exploring this place. They also have an excellent wine bar that offers tasting daily. They also have special wine tasting events. Yesterday they had a Vueve Clicquot Champagne tasting event. Now if you are not familiar with Champagne, Vueve is the type of champagne you might see hip hop stars drinking on Instagram. The price of Vueve starts at $50 a bottle and goes up to $150 a bottle. Hi-Times poured it all! This is why this was one of the best tasting events that I have attended. Since the tasting occurred on the Saturday before Halloween they encouraged that everyone wear costumes. They gave away a magnum of Vueve for the best costume. Not bad! They also had DJ Stereo System Collective spinning some really fun tunes turning the tasting event.
Now for the tasting, $30 bought you 7 tasting of their entire line up of Vueve Clicquot Champagne. The price of the Champagne ranged from $50 to $150 a bottle. This tasting was a tremendous value. I have had the entry level Vueve many times and it is very good but had never tried the pricier bottles. They were all very good. Even though they poured the La Grande Dame my favorite was a 2008 vintage they poured. It was off the charts! It was really fun to indulge in champagne that is pricier than I am usually willing to spend. So if you are ever in the mood to see what all the hub bub is about regarding the pricey champagne and wine you see your favorite celebrities drinking on social media, keep an eye out for an event at Hi-Times and you can see for yourself how the other half lives!
